After two years of requests for help for my daughter being ignored, and her slow learning being overlooked while she was passed to the next grade with a teacher who would be absent most of the year, they have failed her. With only a month until the AZ Merit test, I'm told she can't write a five paragraph essay; yet they refuse to put her on an IEP. She will now have to repeat third grade due to their lack of assistance. All they've suggested is reading and math facts (without specifying what level), as if I have some sort of degree in teaching! Trying to help my child is different than homeschooling - it would likely go much better for her if we did that. It was suggested that I must "force" them into giving more help and talk with the principal; so far, two messages asking for a meeting have gone unanswered. Tomorrow, I will be at the school complaining about this injustice - no one should need go through all this just to get their child what they need! This school clearly does not care about its students.

I, being a parent of Thew school, would highly recommend it to anyone living in the area. It has gone through radical improvements with more parental participation. Furthermore, a PTA has been established too! Despite past negative reviews, this is a fresh start and the school is much better. The staff is amazing; when you enter the campus you are welcomed warmly and made to feel at home.

I have fond memories of my time at Tempe Flora Thew School in 1983-84. I'm from Mexico and currently reside there, but I still think fondly of my friends and teachers from that time. It was an amazing school.
