We were founding families at Goodyear and wanted our kids to attend, especially since they had tested as gifted and needed more of a challenge. However, senior staff there made my son's life difficult due to the fact that he had been bullied before coming there; instead of tackling the issue head-on, they chose to target, bully and embarrass him in public - something which caused him anxiety and PTSD from BASIS Goodyear. I am thankful we left but still miss certain teachers who were great; however, BASIS has an attitude problem coupled with immaturity and anger issues on the operational side making it impossible for them to be one of the best schools in this area. People should think twice before sending their children here as teachers are not paid enough nor do they stay long due to lack of retention efforts from administration. more ... hide ...

I'm highly impressed with the school, teachers, and staff; my 3 children began kindergarten and within two semesters they were already reading. Initially, they said bullying wouldn't be tolerated here; however, due to the events happening in my family and others', I'm looking into new schools even though my oldest hasn't had any issues. It's hard to find one suitable for all three of us. My opinion of this school has drastically changed after seeing how it handles these matters. more ... hide ...

I'd like to begin by discussing the behavior of one dean in particular; based on my experience, she has a poor attitude towards both students and parents and argues with them, which is unprofessional. The two male deans do their jobs correctly. The school's mandatory study hall system is questionable; it requires those with a D+ or lower grade to attend, resulting in overcrowded study hall rooms and multiple pages of names. Despite claiming that kids would have access to a more robust academic curriculum, they are hiring unqualified/non certified individuals with no degree in education, no experience in teaching and no certifications whatsoever. Even worse, new grads with non-teaching degrees are being allowed to lead the classes and deviate from the school's policies, with no oversight. In reality, all this school provides is aftercare - there is nothing in place for academic assistance or individual help for students. One example of their power-driven punishments includes making a 4 year old Kindergarten student pick up other people's trash while they're eating as humiliation because she didn't want to eat what her teacher had selected for her in only week 2 of the school year! This franchise hailing from Texas has become addicted to the money made from these schools at the expense of unsuspecting parents who think they're buying access to quality curriculum but instead have to teach their children at home due to these unqualified teachers. more ... hide ...
