My son is quite determined, and his kindergarten teacher was amazing, taking the time to really help him. The principal, on the other hand, was constantly searching for motives to send him to ISS. His first grade teacher, though recognizing his intelligence, had no endurance for him and instead of giving him recess as a reward, she would send him to ISS as a punishment. He spent more time in ISS than actually in the classroom, and he never did anything wrong. He started believing he was a terrible kid due to her. I requested a change of class, and they allowed us a one-week trial in a different classroom. He enjoyed that class, made friends and was excited to learn. Nevertheless, they never organized the meeting. After only one week at Rice Elementary, the difference in my son's attitude and his joy for school was complete. His teacher loves him and he loves going to school again. I dearly regret not switching him earlier! If your child is anything but ideal, you might want to think about another school, as Andy Woods is very rigid with kids – no leniency for them just being children. more ... hide ...
